Its composition primarily includes carbon and manganese, with controlled amounts of phosphorus and sulfur. Carbon steel 1018 round bars are commonly used for shafts, pins, rods, spindles, sprockets, and a wide range of machined parts. It offers good machinability, producing hard, continuous chips, and can be easily formed into various shapes. In the cold-drawn condition, it provides a smooth surface finish and higher tensile strength.
